Amazon is giving its paid Alexa+ users a fun new way to interact with their smart assistant. The company just launched three distinct “personalities” that completely change how the AI talks to you. Instead of the standard, neutral responses, subscribers can now choose an assistant that acts Brief, Chill, or Sweet.
The “Brief” style is designed for people who just want the facts without any nonsense. If you choose this setting, Alexa cuts out the small talk and extra pleasantries entirely. It focuses strictly on efficiency, giving you the exact answer you asked for without any added fluff or long-winded explanations.
On the other end of the spectrum is the “Chill” mode. This personality feels relaxed and easygoing, sounding a bit like a stereotypical surfer. In an audio sample provided by Amazon, when a user asked how it was doing, the Chill voice replied, “Life’s treating me well – all systems are Zen and the digital universe is spinning in harmony.”
If you prefer high energy, the “Sweet” mode might be for you. This version is aggressively perky and enthusiastic. When asked the same question about how it was doing, the Sweet personality responded, “Absolutely fantastic! I’m radiating pure joy and ready to make your day incredibly amazing!”
Amazon says these new styles aren’t just random voice changes. The company built them by adjusting five specific metrics: expressiveness, emotional openness, formality, directness, and humor. By sliding these scales around, they created distinct characters, and Amazon hinted that more options with different combinations could arrive in the future.
These new features are available right now, but only for customers who pay for the Alexa+ subscription. You can switch between the vibes by going into the Alexa app settings or simply by saying, “Alexa, change your personality style.” If you decide you don’t like the new attitudes, you can easily switch back to the classic Alexa voice using the same method.
