Apple has spent months figuring out its AI strategy, and we finally have a clear picture of what the company has in mind. The tech giant is planning a massive overhaul of Siri. Instead of the old voice assistant we know today, Apple is building a full-blown AI chatbot internally nicknamed “Campos.”

This new chatbot will completely replace the current Siri interface. It will work much more like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, enabling real back-and-forth conversations rather than simple one-off commands. While Apple has been testing a standalone Campos app, sources say the company doesn’t plan to release it to the public as a separate download. Instead, they want to bake the chatbot directly into the software for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. We can expect to see this major change late next year when the “version 27” operating systems arrive.

In the meantime, Apple isn’t leaving current users totally behind. The upcoming iOS 26.4 update will finally bring some of the Siri features Apple first promised way back in 2024, but has since delayed.

This shift to a chatbot also explains why Apple made the surprising move to partner with its frequent rival, Google. Earlier this month, the two companies announced that Google’s Gemini models will help power upcoming versions of Siri. It is a practical move for Apple; they have fallen behind in the AI race, and using Google’s established technology helps them catch up much faster.

Beyond software, Apple is looking for other ways to host its new AI resources. New reports suggest that 2027 brings a new piece of hardware: a wearable AI pin. While other companies have struggled to make these gadgets popular, Apple clearly thinks it can make the idea work. After a long wait, it looks like Apple is finally ready to stop spinning its wheels and start putting powerful AI into people’s hands.
