Samsung is pushing the boundaries of gaming displays, unveiling a new 32-inch 6K monitor that delivers stunning 3D visuals without requiring special glasses. The new “Odyssey 3D G90XH” uses real-time eye-tracking to adjust the image’s depth and perspective as you move, creating a layered, 3D effect.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen glasses-free 3D, but Samsung is aiming to make it a serious feature for gamers. The monitor boasts a super-fast 165Hz refresh rate, which can even be boosted to 330Hz at a lower resolution. Combined with its 1ms response time, this is a display that’s built for competitive gaming.
To achieve the 3D effect, the monitor uses continuous eye-tracking to keep the image stable and aligned, even as you move your head. Samsung says that supported PC games will even have special enhancements to make the 3D effect more pronounced, with better object separation and a greater sense of depth.
The monitor’s 6K resolution also makes it incredibly sharp, with a pixel density that’s closer to a high-end professional display than a typical gaming monitor. However, the 3D feature will only work with supported software, so it’s not something you’ll be able to use for all your everyday tasks.
Beyond the groundbreaking 3D model, Samsung also announced a new lineup of other high-performance Odyssey monitors, including a 32-inch 4K OLED display and a 27-inch 5K model, all with incredibly high refresh rates.
