OpenAI just launched a new app directory right inside ChatGPT. Now, you don’t have to leave your chat to handle daily tasks. You can order groceries, book a flight, or turn a messy outline into a slide deck without switching tabs. While these were once called “connectors,” OpenAI now calls them “apps.”

You can find the new apps section on the web version and the mobile apps for iOS and Android. To keep things organized, OpenAI split them into categories like Lifestyle, Productivity, and Featured. You will see many familiar names there, including Spotify, Dropbox, and Booking.com.

Setting them up is easy. You click an app, tap “Connect,” and grant it access to ChatGPT. Once you do that, you can bring an app into any conversation by typing the “@” symbol and the app’s name. For example, if you connect Dropbox, you can ask the AI to summarize a long report or write a brief based on your saved files.

Some of the newest additions are handy. There is a new Apple Music app that helps you find songs and build playlists through the chat interface. If you are hungry, the DoorDash app can take a recipe or a meal plan you just created and turn it into a real shopping cart full of ingredients.

OpenAI is also inviting outside developers to join in. They released a set of tools and guides to help people build and submit their own apps for review. For now, developers make money by sending users back to their own websites or main apps, but OpenAI said it is looking into ways to let creators make money directly within ChatGPT later.

Privacy is a major focus for this launch. OpenAI is requiring every developer to provide a clear privacy policy so users know how their data is being used. CEO Sam Altman wants ChatGPT to feel more like a tool that helps people move from an idea to a finished task. By adding these apps, the company is turning the chatbot into a central hub for digital life.
