Google is teaming up with the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, becoming the event’s official cloud provider and a founding partner. The deal, announced on Wednesday, will see Google’s powerful cloud and artificial intelligence technology used across the entire Games, from helping fans find their way around to supporting the massive behind-the-scenes operations.

This is a major partnership that extends to Team USA and NBCUniversal’s U.S. coverage of the event. Organizers say they will use Google’s AI, including its new Gemini model and the “AI Mode” in Google Search, to create a more “personal and interactive” experience for fans. For attendees, this could mean using Google’s products to navigate venues and get real-time information. For viewers at home, it will mean a more technologically advanced and engaging broadcast from NBCUniversal.

As part of the deal, YouTube will also host select Olympic content, extending NBC’s coverage to the popular video platform. “This deal builds on our longstanding partnership,” said a YouTube executive, highlighting the goal of creating “a world-class viewing experience.”

Organizers expect millions of fans, athletes, and over 70,000 volunteers and workers to descend on Los Angeles for the Games. Google’s technology will be at the heart of making sure everything runs smoothly. The announcement is the latest in a series of major sponsorship deals for the LA28 organizing committee, showing the growing excitement and corporate support for the upcoming Games.
