Nvidia has significantly expanded its Jetson family with the launch of the Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit, a high-performance platform designed for edge AI development. This compact system, resembling a mini-PC in size, houses the new Jetson T5000 system-on-module, boasting impressive processing power for demanding AI workloads. The T5000 packs a powerful punch with its 2560-core Blackwell architecture GPU, delivering an astounding 2070 TFLOPS (FP4, Sparse) performance. This is complemented by a 14-core Arm Neoverse-V3AE CPU and a substantial 128GB of LPDDR5X memory, ensuring smooth operation even under heavy computational load.
Connectivity is a key strength of the Jetson AGX Thor. The kit includes four 25GbE connections for high-speed networking, NVMe storage support via PCIe, and WiFi 6E for wireless connectivity. Furthermore, the system excels in video processing, with robust support for encoding and decoding multiple 4K and 8K video streams. This makes it ideally suited for applications requiring real-time video analysis and processing. A lower-end option, the Jetson T4000, is also in development, promising similar capabilities with slightly reduced specifications.
The Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit comes equipped with a comprehensive reference carrier board, featuring a 1TB NVMe SSD, standard debugging interfaces, and an array of I/O ports, including HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.4a outputs, as well as multiple USB ports. This comprehensive setup provides developers with everything needed to prototype and test their AI solutions rapidly. Expansion capabilities are provided via M.2 slots, further enhancing the flexibility and versatility of the platform. The compact dimensions of 243.19 x 112.4 x 56.88 mm make it suitable for integration into various environments.
Nvidia positions the Jetson AGX Thor as a powerful tool for developers working on humanoid robotics, visual AI systems, and sensor integration projects. It integrates seamlessly with Nvidia’s Isaac, Metropolis, and Holoscan software frameworks, facilitating streamlined development across a wide range of applications. Priced at $3,499, the Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit is available for pre-order from select distributors, with shipments anticipated to commence on November 20, 2025.
