Google Gemini has just launched a new feature called “Guided Learning,” offering a surprisingly effective way to learn just about anything. Instead of just lecturing you with facts, the AI acts like a personal tutor, teaching you through a series of questions and conversations.
To test it out, I asked Gemini to teach me all about cheese, and I was quickly pulled into a full-blown cheese seminar. The AI started by asking me simple questions, and based on my answers, it would provide more details and then ask another question. It was a back-and-forth conversation that made learning feel natural and engaging.
The AI used a mix of visuals, quizzes, and even embedded YouTube videos to help me understand. It walked me through the history of cheese, from ancient herders to cheese found in Egyptian tombs. In just about 15 minutes, I learned all about curds and whey, different cheese traditions, and even how to pick out the best cheeses.
It didn’t feel like studying. It felt more like talking to a friendly expert who was excited to share their knowledge. When I was done with the basics, Gemini asked if I wanted to learn how to make cheese. I said yes, and it guided me step-by-step through the process of making ricotta, complete with pictures.
By the end of the conversation, I felt like I had taken a mini-course in cheesemaking. It’s a powerful and fun new way to learn, and it shows how AI can be more than just a search engine—it can be a patient and knowledgeable teacher.
