After a long wait, Samsung is finally releasing its One UI 8.5 software update to several phones and tablets. While the Samsung Galaxy S26 series already had it from launch, all older devices have been waiting—until now.

According to an announcement from Samsung, the official rollout began on May 6 in South Korea. Other regions will “follow,” so you might not have the update yet, but it should arrive soon if you own a compatible phone.

Initially, One UI 8.5 is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Tab S11 series, and Galaxy Tab S10 series. Basically, this covers most of Samsung’s high-end phones and tablets from the past couple of years.

But this is just the beginning. We already know that One UI 8.5 will also come to other devices, as the beta version is available on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy A36. You’ll just likely have to wait a bit longer to get the final version on those phones.

One UI 8.5 should be worth the wait, as it brings many new features and improvements. These include AirDrop support through Quick Share, additional upgrades to Quick Share (like being able to identify people in photos and suggest sending them to those individuals), and better Photo Assist features.

One UI 8.5 also lets you use Audio Broadcast to send your voice to a connected speaker while you’re talking on your phone. You can also see files on your other Galaxy devices within the My Files app, and there are improvements to power saving mode to make your phone’s battery last longer.

These are the main new features, but there are also smaller changes, like tweaks to the Weather app and better security. So, there’s a lot packed into this update, though not every feature will be available on every phone.
