Samsung may have just accidentally revealed its next big thing. A new leak suggests that the company’s first-ever trifold phone design has been discovered hidden within its software, hinting at a major new foldable device that could be unveiled at its Unpacked event on July 9.

A teardown specialist discovered the design while digging through the code of Samsung’s latest One UI 8 software update. Buried within the new software were animations showing a phone with a completely new design—one that folds in three parts. This has fueled strong rumors that the device, possibly called the Galaxy G Fold, will be announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

According to the leaked animations, the phone features two hinges that allow two outer screens to fold inward over a central panel, almost like a pair of wings. When fully opened, the device would transform into a large, tablet-sized screen.

The design resembles a concept device Samsung previously showcased, called the “Flex G.” The animations also suggest a camera setup similar to the current Galaxy Z Fold series, featuring a punch-hole selfie camera.

While rival company Huawei has already launched a trifold phone in other parts of the world, Samsung could be the first to bring such a device to the U.S. market. The big question, however, is whether consumers are actually looking for a phone that folds twice. It’s a bold and complex new design, and its success will ultimately depend on whether people see a real benefit in carrying a phone that unfolds into an even larger tablet, and at what price.
