Get ready for the next evolution in smartphones. Samsung is expected to show off its first-ever tri-folding smartphone at a major international summit in South Korea later this month, according to industry sources. The Korean tech giant reportedly plans to unveil the new device at an exhibition during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which will take place in Gyeongju on October 31st and November 1st.
This new phone represents a significant upgrade from Samsung’s current Galaxy Fold and Flip models, which feature a bi-fold design. As the name suggests, the new tri-folding phone will fold in three sections. This will allow it to have a huge, tablet-sized screen when it’s fully opened, while still being as portable as a regular smartphone when it’s closed.
Samsung was a pioneer in the foldable phone market, launching its first model back in 2019. However, in recent years, the company has faced a surge of new competition from other tech giants, including Google and Motorola, as well as numerous Chinese companies. While Samsung still holds the top spot in the market, this new, more advanced design is a clear sign that it’s not resting on its laurels.
Samsung has not officially commented on the rumors, but the potential reveal has the tech world buzzing with anticipation for the next big thing in mobile technology.
