OpenAI Launches o3-Pro Model with Enhanced Accuracy and Performance on ChatGPT

OpenAI has officially released the o3-pro model on its ChatGPT platform, continuing its steady rollout of new AI upgrades in 2025. Following the introduction of the o3 and o4-mini models in April, the o3-pro was announced as a more advanced and reliable alternative — and it’s now available to ChatGPT Pro and Team users. Access for Enterprise and Edu users will roll out next week.

The o3-pro is designed to handle more complex queries with greater depth and precision than previous versions. While it may take longer to generate responses, OpenAI recommends the model for situations where accuracy and reliability matter more than speed. According to OpenAI’s release notes, “We recommend using it for challenging questions where reliability matters more than speed, and waiting a few minutes is worth the tradeoff.”

Early benchmark tests show that the o3-pro outperforms both the standard o3 and the earlier o1-pro in terms of accuracy and response quality. The model is expected to be especially valuable for professional users who need dependable results across extended or high-stakes queries.

However, there are some limitations to the o3-pro model. Users cannot currently access image generation, or Canvas features through this version. Those looking to generate visuals or work with the Canvas tool will need to use other ChatGPT models, such as o4-mini or o1. Despite this, the o3-pro fully supports tool integration, enabling it to leverage ChatGPT’s existing capabilities, such as code execution, file browsing, and data analysis.

The launch underscores OpenAI’s commitment to serving a diverse range of users, from casual learners to enterprise-level teams, with tailored AI experiences that cater to their needs. By offering multiple model tiers — including mini, standard, and pro — OpenAI enables users to select the model that best suits their needs in terms of speed, accuracy, and functionality.
