Netflix is making a major move into the podcast world by signing two massive stars for its own original shows. The streaming giant just announced that NFL legend Michael Irvin and comedian Pete Davidson will soon host their own video podcasts on the platform.
Michael Irvin’s show, titled The White House with Michael Irvin, launches on January 19. While the name sounds political, it actually refers to a building near where the Dallas Cowboys practice. Irvin chose the name specifically to grab attention and stand out in the crowded world of sports media. He plans to release two episodes per week, featuring different guests to break down the latest sports news and share his unfiltered analysis.
Fans of Pete Davidson won’t have to wait much longer, either. The Pete Davidson Show kicks off on January 30 at midnight. The former Saturday Night Live star is keeping things casual for this project, as most episodes will be filmed inside his own garage. He will host weekly conversations with various special guests, giving viewers a more personal look at his life and his friends.
These new shows are part of a much larger plan for Netflix. The company is trying to turn its app into a one-stop shop for all kinds of entertainment, not just movies and TV series. Back in December 2025, Netflix signed a deal with iHeartRadio to bring a huge library of video podcasts to the service. On top of that, Netflix recently landed a deal to stream select programs from Spotify.
By hiring big personalities like Irvin and Davidson, Netflix is clearly betting that subscribers want to watch their favorite stars in a more relaxed, talk-show format. These exclusive deals show that the “streaming wars” are no longer just about blockbusters—they are now about who can dominate your headphones and your screen at the same time.
