Meta has appointed Dina Powell McCormick as its new president and vice-chairman. In this role, she will join the senior management team to help guide the company’s overall strategy and plans. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, said that McCormick’s background in global finance and her strong relationships worldwide make her the right person to lead Meta through its next phase of growth.

McCormick brings a wealth of experience from both the financial and political worlds. She previously worked as a partner at Goldman Sachs, where she led the investment banking business for sovereign clients. Most recently, she served as the vice chair and president at the merchant bank BDT & MSD Partners.

Her resume also includes high-level positions in the U.S. government. She served as a deputy national security advisor during Donald Trump’s first term. Before that, she held several roles in the George W. Bush administration, including a position as assistant secretary of state. She is also married to Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick.

This is not McCormick’s first time working with Meta. She actually joined the company’s board of directors last April. However, she stepped down from the board in December. Now, just a few weeks later, she has returned to take on this much larger leadership role within the company.

McCormick is the second person with ties to the first Trump administration that Meta has hired for a top job this month. Just last week, the company named Curtis Joseph Mahoney as its new chief legal officer. Mahoney, who recently worked at Microsoft, previously served as a deputy US trade representative.

By hiring McCormick, Meta is adding a leader who understands how to navigate both big business and government relations. Her experience will help the company navigate international regulations and explore new ways to expand its business globally.
