A Lucid Air Grand Touring electric car, powered by batteries from the Korean firm Samsung SDI, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey on a single charge. The high-performance EV traveled an incredible 1,205 kilometers (about 749 miles) during a test drive last month, smashing the previous record of 1,045 kilometers.
The record-breaking drive took place between St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany, on a route that included challenging alpine roads and highways. The achievement is a major win for both companies, showcasing the power of Samsung’s advanced battery technology combined with Lucid’s impressive engineering.
“With Samsung SDI’s cylindrical battery powering the world’s longest-range vehicle, we have proven our technological prowess,” a Samsung SDI official said. “We will strengthen our partnership with Lucid to expand our global market share.”
The Lucid Air Grand Touring isn’t just about range. The luxury sedan is also a powerhouse, capable of going from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.2 seconds and hitting a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour. It can also gain up to 400 kilometers of range in just 16 minutes thanks to its advanced battery and ultra-fast charging system.
Samsung SDI and Lucid have been working together since 2016, and this new world record is a clear demonstration of what their partnership can achieve.
