LG Innotek is making a big move into the world of “physical AI.” They just signed a strategic deal with Applied Intuition, a major software company from the U.S. that helps cars drive themselves. This partnership aims to put LG at the front of the pack when it comes to autonomous vehicles, drones, and even robots.

Applied Intuition isn’t a small player; they already provide software and simulation tools to 18 of the top 20 car makers in the world. By using their software and test vehicles, LG Innotek can fine-tune its sensing modules. These sensors act like the eyes of the car, and they need to work perfectly for a vehicle to navigate safely without a human driver.

To make these sensors better, LG needs a mountain of real-world data. Through this deal, they will gather information from roads across the U.S., Europe, and Japan. This helps them understand how different traffic patterns, regional infrastructure, and weather conditions affect their cameras and radar systems. It is much more effective than just testing in a controlled lab environment.

Back home in Korea, LG Innotek plans to run its own self-driving tests using Applied Intuition’s tools. They are currently working on a “multi-sensing” system that combines cameras, LiDAR, and radar into one smart package. Testing this tech on real roads will help them spot bugs early and get their products ready for customers much faster.

One of the most interesting parts of this deal involves “virtual sensors.” LG can create digital copies of their hardware and put them into a computer simulation. Car companies can then test these virtual parts before they ever build a physical prototype. This digital twin technology saves manufacturers a lot of time and money during the design phase.

This partnership shows that LG Innotek wants to be more than just a company that sells parts. They want to provide a full package that includes both the hardware and the software. By combining these two things, they make it much easier for automakers to build and launch new autonomous vehicles without having to piece together different systems themselves.

LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo believes this is a huge leap forward for the company. He wants LG to lead the way in mobility and robotics sensing. By working with a software leader like Applied Intuition, LG is positioning itself to be a top player in the next generation of smart, self-operating machines.
