LG is diving into the latest television craze with its new Micro RGB technology. The electronics giant plans to reveal the LG Micro RGB evo at CES 2026 fully, but it dropped some early details today to build hype. This new tech sits right between standard Mini LED screens and the high-end precision of OLED panels, promising a significant jump in picture quality.
So, what makes Micro RGB special? Most LED TVs use white lights for the background. This new screen changes that method by using tiny, individually controlled red, green, and blue Micro LEDs. Because the TV can manipulate specific colors in the backlight rather than filtering white light, you get a much wider array of colors. LG claims this upgrade delivers a picture that pops way more than current Mini LED options while maintaining high brightness.
Under the hood, LG packed the TV with an upgraded engine that uses AI to upscale lower-resolution content. The company says Intertek certified the screen for 100 percent color gamut coverage across major professional standards like Adobe RGB and DCI-P3. For contrast, the display uses over 1,000 dimming zones to keep dark scenes looking rich and bright highlights sharp.
Competitors are already testing these waters, but the price of entry is steep. Samsung launched a similar TV earlier this year, but that massive 115-inch model costs a staggering $29,999. LG aims to offer a wider range of practical sizes, with 100, 86, and 75 inches available. While LG hasn’t put a price tag on the Micro RGB evo yet, don’t expect a bargain. Even with smaller screen sizes, this creates a new premium tier in their lineup that will likely cost thousands.
We will see the TV in person very soon. CES 2026 runs from January 6 to January 9 in Las Vegas. LG will likely show off exactly how these red, green, and blue lights work on the show floor. Until then, these early specs give us a glimpse at the next battleground for living room dominance.
