The Japanese government announced on Friday that it will provide significant financial support to Sony for a new image sensor plant. Industry Minister Ryosei Akazawa confirmed that subsidies of up to 60 billion yen (approximately $380 million) will go towards the facility, located in the western Japanese prefecture of Kumamoto.
