Meta is now letting users edit comments they leave on Instagram posts, but only within a 15-minute window after they are posted. This setup is much like how the social app handles editing messages, a feature it first added in 2024, 11 years after direct messaging came to Instagram in 2013.

You can only edit comments you made with your own account, and the process is very simple. Just tap the word “Edit” under your comment to bring up a text box where you can change, rewrite, or add to what you’ve written. Then, press the blue check mark to save it. Meta says you can edit comments as many times as you want within that 15-minute window, so if you need to make more changes, that option is there.

Comments can appear in several places across Instagram – including Stories, since 2024 – so having a way to edit them is a welcome improvement. This new option is just the latest in a series of changes Meta has brought to the social app in the last month.

Earlier in March, the company announced it was removing end-to-end encryption from Instagram DMs. At the end of the month, Meta also started testing Instagram Plus, a subscription service that unlocks new features for the app’s Stories.
