HD Hyundai is doubling down on its digital future. On Wednesday, the company announced a massive new agreement with the U.S. software firm Palantir Technologies. The two leaders signed the contract during high-level meetings at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. While the companies kept the specific price confidential, experts estimate the deal is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
This partnership aims to turn HD Hyundai into a truly data-driven organization. To make this happen, the two companies will build a “Center of Excellence.” This new hub will focus on building systems that put artificial intelligence and data analytics at the heart of every decision the company makes. They want these tools to help every part of the business, including robotics, electric systems, and ship maintenance.
This move builds on a relationship that started several years ago. HD Hyundai Oilbank first began using Palantir’s big data platform in 2021. Since then, the group has gradually expanded its use of AI across its core industries. Now, they are ready to roll it out to the entire organization.
HD Hyundai Chairman and CEO Chung Ki-sun said this expansion marks a major turning point. He explained that by connecting all the company’s data and workflows into one single system, they can make faster, sharper decisions. He praised Palantir for its global expertise in organizing complex information and improving how businesses run.
Palantir CEO Alex Karp shared that enthusiasm, calling HD Hyundai their oldest and most important partner in South Korea. He said Palantir is committed to helping the group stay competitive through this next chapter of innovation.
Beyond the software deal, Chairman Chung has been busy at Davos. He attended several sessions focused on how AI is changing modern industry. He also plans to meet with global energy leaders to discuss the shift toward green energy and how new technology can help keep energy supplies secure in a changing world.
