YouTube TV is giving its subscribers a $20 credit amid its ongoing dispute with Disney. This dispute has led to many popular channels, including ESPN, ABC News, and Disney Channel, disappearing from the platform.
The YouTube TV team sent an email to subscribers, letting them know they would soon receive another email with details on how to claim their credit. Once redeemed, this $20 will appear on their next bill. “We know it’s been disappointing to lose Disney content, and we want you to know we deeply appreciate your patience,” the email stated.
The conflict began when YouTube TV and Disney failed to reach a new agreement by their October 30 deadline. With no deal in place, Disney’s content went dark on the streaming service. While this was frustrating for many viewers, both companies confirm that negotiations are still in progress.
“We’ve been working in good faith to negotiate a deal with Disney that pays them fairly for their content and returns their programming to YouTube TV,” the team explained in their message. YouTube TV aims to strike a fair deal that lets it bring back the channels its subscribers enjoy.
For subscribers who feel the $20 credit doesn’t quite make up for the weeks of missing content, YouTube TV offers an alternative: pausing their subscription. This option allows users to take a break from their service until the dispute is resolved or if they decide to explore other viewing options. The ongoing talks mean there’s still hope for these channels to return, but for now, subscribers have some flexibility and a small refund to ease the inconvenience.
