Coding is becoming one of the most popular uses for artificial intelligence tools, and OpenAI continues to improve its offerings in this area. The company has now launched a Chrome extension for its Codex platform. The new browser-based features of this plugin include testing web applications, gathering information from all open tabs, and using Chrome DevTools at the same time as the user does other things. This extension could also make Codex more attractive to everyday users and other professions beyond just developers, since so many computer tasks now happen in web browsers.
OpenAI first launched Codex as a macOS app in February and then added more features in April. Eventually, the company plans to offer a single app that combines Codex with the ChatGPT chatbot and its own web browser called Atlas. The new Chrome extension works on both Windows and Mac computers.
