Trump Delays TikTok Ban Again with 90-Day Extension
U.S. TikTok App

President Donald Trump is once again delaying a potential ban on the Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok. The White House confirmed on Tuesday that Trump will sign another executive order granting the popular video app a 90-day extension to determine its future in the United States. This is now the third time the Trump administration has delayed the deadline since he took office in January.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained the move, stating that President Trump “does not want TikTok to go dark.” She said the administration will use the next 90 days to push for a final deal, one that will allow Americans to continue using the app while ensuring their data remains secure.

Although the clock has been reset, there has been little public progress on an actual sale since the last extension in April. Several American companies are reportedly interested in acquiring TikTok’s U.S. business. Still, any potential agreement faces a significant hurdle: the Chinese government must also approve the sale of its homegrown tech giant.

Previous reports suggested a deal could involve TikTok’s current U.S. investors simply moving their shares into a new, American-controlled company. However, those earlier negotiations were reportedly derailed by President Trump’s tariffs on Chinese imports, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing saga.
